If you are looking to change the look and feel of your interior this year, why not take a look at some of the hottest colour trends for 2016. Deep navy and midnight blue will add some luxurious glamour alongside jewelled emerald tones while soft and subtle clay and mauve provide a delicate and feminine touch to any room of the home. For a pop of colour that sits comfortably with a wide range of tonal partnerships then select a juicy meat red colour palette that is rich and opulent.
Navy
Navy is the new black this season, from deep nautical hues to more deep and tonal midnight blue. This opulent period style colour is striking and cosy and can be combined with another of 2016s hottest tones – emerald to give an opulent and palatial feel within the home. Navy blue looks fabulous alongside crisp white or pewter but can also be teamed with red, mustard and fuchsia for a pop of vibrant colour. This colour looks great on a feature wall or alcove space and also makes a fantastic fabric on a sofa, dining set or head board as it blends well with oak, white and grey painted furniture exteriors.
Emerald
You will make your friends green with envy if you dip your toe into a glistening emerald colour scheme that oozes jewelled elegance. This bright and refined colour will look fabulous alongside navy and white and can also be partnered with other gemstone hues such as amethyst, sapphire and ruby for a fresh and uplifting look with a hint of eastern charm. This tone can be used on sofas and chairs to give a rich period feel or can be used on more modern Perspex stools and occasional chairs for a sleek artistic design. Emerald cut glass and crockery will look amazing in a sleek white painted dresser and can be used alongside masculine and feminine tones for a diverse and varied look.
Clay
Earthen colour tones are set to be hugely popular in 2016 as they create a bright and illuminating ambiance with added warmth and cosiness. Clay is a fabulous colour choice as it lies somewhere between beige, brown and grey and can be used as a standalone colour or combined with bolder tones for a more modern and eye-catching look. Partner this hue with chalky pastel tones such as peach, mauve and lilac or subtle greys and charcoals for a more dramatic and masculine appearance. If you wish to create a more colourful interior space then place clay alongside pink, green, duck egg and mustard for a fresh and botanical inspired design.
Mauve
Mauve was once considered a boring and uninteresting colour tone however this year it is tipped to be one of the most favoured tones due to its subtle elegance and versatility. This colour works particularly well alongside a range of tonal greys such as pale dove grey or deep pewter and charcoal for a rich and opulent feel. Heather tones such as pale lilac to deep purple work well alongside this subtle hue and create a soft and cosy interior feel. For a bright and illuminating look, partner mauve with soft white and pastel pinks to give a delicate feminine ambiance to your chosen room or pair with more earthen clay, beige and taupe for a neutral backdrop that can be accented with pops of bold colour or metallic accessories.
Meat Red
The name of this colour may not sound particularly elegant but rest assured a meat red colour tone will create a rich and luxurious ambiance in your chosen interior space. This warm and fresh red tone has elements of orange and hints of pink that make it a bold tonal colour choice that works well in both neutral and daring interior spaces. Meat red will look great partnered with deep navy or monochrome decor and creates a zoned area of colour when used on a wall or furniture item. For a more rich, cottage style feel, team this colour with beige, grey and burgundy for a warm and cosy finish. This colour also looks fabulous in stark white, minimal homes as its vibrancy adds visual detail against the plain and simple backdrop.
