5 Fun Easter Craft Ideas

The Easter holidays have arrived and it is the perfect time to try some artistic Easter crafts that will keep the little ones busy. Whether it’s tasty chocolate inspired treats and gifts or spring inspired decorations and floral arrangements, we have put together some simple and fun Easter craft ideas that can be enjoyed by all the family.

Carrot Treat Bags

If you are looking for an alternative gift to the classic Easter egg then why not create some of these fun carrot sweet bags that are perfect for younger family members. Take some conical clear cellophane sweet bags and fill with any orange coloured sweets or sherbet or cheesy crisps for those with less of a sweet tooth. Tie the end of the bag with a small elastic band and then add a plume of shredded green card to represent the leafy end of the carrot. Add an Easter inspired gift card if giving as an individual gift or place in a classic Easter basket with some small eggs and a soft toy bunny or chick.

Easter Jars

These simple yet elegant Easter jars will make a great centrepiece at an Easter party or family meal. The children can take them home at the end of the day and enjoy all the yummy treats that are sealed inside. Take some plain clear glass jars with lids (you can buy these or recycle your old used jars) and place a layer of shredded green paper at the bottom of the jar. Next add a layer of pastel coloured mini eggs and finish with a large chocolate centrepiece of your choosing. Hollow chocolate bunnies, chicks or a traditional egg all work great and look wonderful nestled amongst the small coloured eggs. Seal with the lid and tie with a natural twine or Easter ribbon bow for an elegant finishing touch.

Bunny Pictures

Whether you are looking to create an alternative Easter gift or some seasonal decor for your home these chic bunny pictures are both simple and stylish. Firstly take a plain sheet of white, cream or pastel coloured card to use as the background of your picture. Using a contrasting sheet of coloured card, some Easter wrapping paper or an old book page or newspaper neatly cut out the shape of a traditional bunny. You can do this as a solid design using a printable template or cut out two circles (one large and one small) with a flat surface cut into the base of the larger shape. Then cut out two identical ear shapes and arrange into your bunny design. Finally add a cotton wool ball or a knitted pom pom for the tail and place the picture in a plain painted or wooden frame for a professional look and finish.

Easter Pots

These plant pots make a great present for the younger members of your family or can be given as seasonal gifts from your children to their grandparents or teachers. Firstly take a small terracotta plant pot and paint your pot in a bright yellow or orange for a chick or white and pastel tones for a rabbit themed design. Next take a small paint brush and paint on the facial details adding some large googly eyes and a 3D cardboard beak for the chick or some large ears and a cotton wool tail for the bunny. For children, fill the pot with shredded paper and add a selection of mini eggs, Easter chocolates and sweets or for an adult, pot some daffodils, tulips or herbs to create a thoughtful handcrafted gift.

Painted Eggs

Painted eggs are a great way to keep the kids busy on a rainy Easter day and there are lots of fun (and messy) techniques they can try! If you are using real eggs, make sure they are either hard boiled or blown to prevent any messy breakages or purchase some ceramic eggs from your local craft shop. Let them paint their eggs using bold or pastel coloured paints in stripy, spotty or floral patterns and add some gold leaf or glitter for added sparkle. For a fun psychedelic design fill a large bowl or tray with shaving foam and swirl in some neon food colouring in varying colours until it resembles a tie dye effect. Grab some gloves and roll your eggs in the mixture on one side and then flip over to coat the entire egg. Let the egg sit for 10 minutes and then rinse off the excess foam to leave a brightly coloured marble effect. Place your finished eggs in a bowl, basket or glass vase or hang from the trees outside for an outdoor Easter egg hunt.
