An Honest Reflection of Mirrored Furniture....

Depressing to say, but it does appear that our ‘lovely’ British summer is over… the nights are drawing in, and dare I say it, the central heating may have been put on for an hour or two in the evenings.
So now thoughts go from spending the lazy (few sunny) weekends in the garden, having BBQ’s with family and friends to snuggling up on the sofa and thinking about doing the work we have all put off all summer inside the house. This could be anything from a bit of a furniture move round and a quick lick of paint, or in my case decorating the master bedroom, and tweaking the sitting room.
Working at the furniture market is very enjoyable, fun and some days challenging, but also a dangerous…very dangerous! The times we have had newly designed furniture added to our ever growing ranges, looking at it, admiring it during the photo shoots and adding it to the list of ‘must buy soon’ has grown longer and is countless.
In the office we all have our own lists of what we want; it is just sometimes having to find the space and money to fit the little beauty in.
I can say on a personal level, that once the Antique Mirrored furniture arrived in the warehouse, had its photo shoot and then the images edited, I did decide that I MUST have some of it! I excitedly went home to describe the chest of drawers, and dressing table and bedsides to a slightly ‘glazed over’ looking husband.
With the antique mirrored range in mind, I have now chosen opulent wallpaper, and a fabulous chandelier, the existing brown leather sleigh bed and the room has literally been designed around trying to convince my husband that we should get the beautiful antique mirrored furniture.
There are many benefits of mirrored furniture, but I think it is mainly the aesthetic value that it can bring to your home and décor. Putting it simply, I think mirrored furniture is stunning!!
I know … I can hear some of you tutt and sigh, “but the cleaning, the sticky fingers, the dust.. .oh how to keep it clean in a home with animals, children, husbands and his friends who don’t like to use coasters..” It may not be for everyone, but I am a true convert!
Mirrored furniture can help you take a fresh look at your home. It maybe the style statement you have been looking for and no matter what you get it will add that ‘WOW’ factor.
Mirrored furniture comes in all sorts of styles, designs and finishes. Here at the Furniture Market we have plenty of styles from the clean modern crisp lines that will suit all those who love minimalist sleek style, to the delicate etched range with floral motifs engraved into the glass that will gently add soft femininity in to the room, the high impact of black mirrored glass, very bold, dark and yet not intrusive, to the full indulgence of antique mirror with mottled glass and gold edges and cabriole legs.
Whatever your taste and style there will be pieces that will make you go a little weak at the knees.
One of the main advantages of Mirrored furniture is that it can be mixed and matched in with your existing furniture at home, and instantly give a new look to your room. You may decide to buy just 1 piece and that may be enough for you or you could slowly over time build up your collection, or maybe just go the ‘whole hog’ and redo the entire room with mirrored furniture.
In our Mirrored furniture ranges, we have everything the simple mirrored bedside to a mirrored coffee table, a truly magnificent mirrored Sideboard, or maybe the impressive mirrored wide screen TV unit… Yes we have those too.
Mirrored furniture is designed to enlarge the space within your room; just like in the department stores that have large expanses of mirrored walls or the odd mirrored column, it is designed to fool your eye, reflect light and make you think there is more space than there actually is.
The only limit with mirrored furniture is at what point you think you have done all you want. You can’t have too little in a room (a side table) and you can’t have too much (bedside, chest of drawers and dressing table)
So now I am the proud owner of 2 plain mirrored side tables in the lounge, and yes they do get a total battering when my husband and his friends have ‘boys night’. The next day there are beer bottle rings, spillages, and take-a-way cartons strewn over them, but unlike wood, none of the spillages or marks are permanent, a damp cloth whizzed over the surface and a light buffing and hey presto the remnants of boys night have been removed.
And the bedroom…. well the antique mirrored bedsides, and 3 drawer chest looks amazing, with the lightly dappled mirror and gold trim that complements them so subtly, they are centre stage of the bedroom, we have had a stream of compliments from friends and family since we have brought these beauties home.
The mirrored furniture has added some ‘shimmer and sparkle’ into my home just as the nights are drawing in and they defiantly brighten up the room, might they just do that with yours??
