Colour Trend - Almond

Neutral and pastel tones are a hot favourite in 2015 with many designers dropping bolder tones in favour of something more subtle and cosy. One of Pantone's most popular colours for 2015 is ‘toasted almond’ and with this in mind I have decided to explore ALMOND interior colour palettes that toe the line between earthen and pastel hues to create a rich and cosy home with a hint of feminine colour.

Colour Palettes

When I think of almonds I think of gorgeous sugar coated treats that are a firm favourite in wedding favours and children’s parties. This illustration of soft pastel tones is one of the many ways in which you can add this sumptuous colour into your home. Select a peachy almond tone and display alongside rich cream, mint and pale blue for a haven of chalky, sorbet style tones that will give a fresh and summery feel to any interior space. For a more subtle appearance then select a creamy almond hue and partner it with beige, caramel and biscotti tones for a sophisticated neutral finish that can be accentuated with pops of bolder colour.

Cushions

This coloured upholstery also works well on white painted dining chairs to give a hint of feminine elegance to a simple or minimal space.

Accessories

Coloured accessories can sometimes overpower a neutral interior space; however by selecting colour tones that lay on the earthen or pastel spectrum you can add a hint of colour that compliments the decor of the room whist adding a slight variation to the main colour palette. An almond coloured lamp shade can add a pop of colour to a side table or console while an almond coloured vase will make a subtle statement in the centre of a dining table. As almond coloured accessories can be a little difficult to come by on the high street , why not compliment an almond coloured decor with a selection of fresh white or cream accessories for a bright and spring like ambiance or some stylish black and grey accessories for a more bold and contemporary look. Clear glass items will also look great against this soft and subtle hue allowing the backdrop of the home to speak for itself.

Painted furniture is still as popular as ever with more and more people opting to ‘Do It Themselves’ when it comes to updating the look of their home. Almond colour tones are a perfect starting point for updating your old or tired furniture as the soft and neutral finish will give a more subtle change than bolder and more daring colour choice. Try selecting a single statement furniture item such as a dining table, dresser or chest of drawers and lavishing it with a soft almond hue. Partner it with a selection of cream, grey or white painted furniture items for a complimentary look and finish. This illuminating colour scheme will also look fabulous finished with a selection of mirrored furniture items for a glamorous and glistening finish that will create a feminine boutique elegance that works particularly well in a living room or bedroom setting.
