Colour Trend - Blueberry

Following on from this season’s ‘berry’ inspired interior trend, this week we are taking a look at rich and mouth watering BLUEBERRY colour schemes that will add a pop of colour to both modern and classic home interiors. This gorgeous blue/purple tone will look amazing combined with neutral or complimentary berry hues to give a chic and sophisticated interior feel.

Colour Palette

For a bright and vibrant interior feel, partner blueberry tones with bold pink, purple and glacial blue for a fruity look that works really well in living room and bedrooms. For a more botanical look then team blueberry with rich greens, reds and lavender for an uplifting ambiance that will look amazing in a conservatory or garden view room. If you prefer a more modern feel in your home interior then replace traditional monochrome with crisp white and blueberry that will create a sleek and refined design with a hint of rich colour.

Cushions

If you are happy with your current interior decor but fancy a change of colour then why not add a blueberry accent tone with a scattering of cushions that will create a zoned area of colour on a sofa, chair or bed. For a bright and vibrant design then opt for bold floral designs featuring blueberry, strawberry and green tones that will liven up a plain upholstered sofa or bed set.  Simple striped and geometric print patterns look fresh and eye-catching in white and blueberry tones and give a slight hint of nautical charm to your chosen room. For a traditional elegance and charm then select blueberry, cream and cranberry red cushions in baroque or Fleur de Lys designs that will look great on a French style armchair or chaise lounge.

Upholstery

Bold coloured upholstery will remain popular in 2016 and is a great way of creating a focal point within your home interior and can tie in colours and patterns that have been used on your wallpaper, curtains and rugs. If you love classic elegance and refinement in your home interior then select French style armchairs and sofas with simple white or glamorous silver painted frameworks and upholster in a stylish blueberry and white rococo print fabric for a chic and sophisticated look. Blueberry, pink, red and green fabrics in classic floral prints will look great on oak or white painted dining chairs for a natural yet colourful interior design.  If you wish to create a focal point in your bedroom space then why not upholster your headboard in a simple blueberry and white striped fabric that will stand out against a plain painted wall.

Accessories

Blueberry accessories will add a pop of subtle colour to a neutral home interior and look great with both simple and varied colour combinations. Minimal, crisp white interiors can be updated with a selection of blueberry vases, ornaments and frames to give a monochrome effect that is softer than the more classic black and white combination. Blueberry tableware will look great on a white painted dining table and can be combined with simple white and blue napkins, glasses and mugs for a crisp and nautical feel or bolder berry tones such as raspberry and strawberry for a vibrant and eye-catching finish. Blueberry also works amazing well with metallic silver and gold and this gorgeous pendulum shade (right) is sure to create a statement in any room of the home.

Furniture

Painted furniture is as popular as ever with bold and bright colours overtaking the more simple whites and creams that were seen during the past season. A statement furniture item such as a sideboard, dresser or a pair of bedsides painted in rich blueberry paint will compliment a simple white interior or can be partnered with other berry toned furniture items for a bright and modern interior look. If you have concentrated your blueberry colour to your walls then opt for sleek white or cream painted furniture to create a sense of space and light in your chosen room or if you are feeling particularly flamboyant then why not select some mirrored, silver or gold painted furniture for a touch of period glamour.
