There are lots of colours that remind me of the summer seasons but there is one colour that always catches my eye when it re appears across interior designs – TEAL. This classic blue/green hue is perfect for creating the ambiance of tropical coastal areas and seaside villages and never fails to create a holiday style feel within the home. This traditional colour has been making an appearance in interiors for many years and its bright, yet elegant finish makes it a perfect choice for both classic and contemporary homes.
For a classic and simple finish in your home interior then team teal with crisp white or soft and delicate grey to create a light yet cosy finish that has a hint of coastal seaside charm. Team with a simple teal and white striped wallpaper that is sure to create a focal point on a main feature wall. If you prefer a bolder, tropical interior design then why not partner teal with bright fuchsia pink, bold emerald, turquoise and yellow and place alongside an eye-catching palm or orchid patterned wallpaper that is perfect for injecting a summertime feel into your home interior. For a more delicate and feminine interior design then you could partner rich teal with some softer pastel tones such as cream, peach, lilac and mint that will create a botanical feel that can be further accentuated with some traditional floral wallpaper.
Teal is a great colour choice for your upholstery and soft furnishings as the deep and rich colour will create zoned areas of colour within your chosen room. For a classic period style interior design then opt for some velvet or satin curtains tied with silver tasselled tie backs and pair with some co-ordinating cushions in a mixtures of tasselled, embroidered and bolster style designs that will look great on a seating are or scattered along a satin bedding set. For a more elegant and feminine interior design, why not upholster a sofa, armchair or a set of dining chairs in some teal and pastel floral fabrics in classic botanical prints or opt for bolder and bright tropical cushions, bedding and rugs for a more eye-catching and fun interior feel.
There are many furniture styles and colours that would make a great match for a teal coloured interior. Simple oak furniture is always a classic and versatile choice and will create a cosy country style finish against the rich and bold tea backdrop. For a lighter yet cosy interior finish, a selection of white or grey painted furniture items will create a fresh feel in your teal painted interior. You can choose to accentuate your room with a selection of classic silver and chrome accessories that will add some shimmer and glamour to a more classic interior design or for a botanical or tropical style interior, you could include some old floral crockery, artwork and lighting that will create focal points around the room.
