With the (apparent) heatwave heading our way this month, what better way to celebrate than with a warm and bright Indian inspired interior that oozes vibrancy and opulence.
From traditional wooden furniture to bold and uplifting colour palettes, Indian interiors have long been an influence on home designs and architectural features around the world due to their beauty and versatility.
Cushions
As with many other Asian countries Indian interiors are all about colour! From bright fushia to illuminating azure; the perfect Indian colour palette includes a rainbow of colour and texture. Soft and eye-catching cushions are a key feature in Indian interior design and provide a vivid flash of colour against a plain or neutral seating area or bed. For a more traditional Indian feel then opt for large cushions or upholstered beanbags to create an authentic floor level seating area.
Fabrics
Sumptuous fabrics and opulent upholstery play a huge roll in even the most basic of Indian interiors. Satin, velvet, voile and wool are popular fabric choices and can be used individually or together for added texture and colour. Vibrant colours are often paired with metallic tones such as silver and gold for an opulent, luxurious finish that is reminiscent of classic Indian palace interiors.
Accessories
Indian accessories make a sumptuous addition to even the plainest of interiors and reflect the colourful nature of Indian culture. Fabulous metal and coloured glass light fittings create a fabulous mood lighting effect and look wonderful in both indoor and outdoor spaces. Indian pottery, floating candles and floral arrangements give a soft and delicate feel that creates a relaxed and laid back ambiance within your interior. Hindu sculptures, elephant designs and bird print patterns will add an interesting and authentic Indian interior style that fits perfectly into any room of your home.
Furniture
Natural material and vibrant colours are combined to create a traditional yet-eye catching furniture designs that are typical of Indian interior design. Native woods are hand carved and crafted to create simple yet stylish designs that ooze cultural influences and techniques. Natural wood is often left in its natural state and looks wonderful as a ornate headboard, filigree room screen or bed frame whilst bold paint, traditional patterns and designs can be added to the exterior of your furniture for a sumptuously rich burst of colour with visual detail and texture.
