It’s time to get the Christmas tree out of the attic, dust off the fairy lights and tackle the tinsel and transform our homes into gorgeous and stylish festive spaces. Choosing how to decorate your home during the festive season can be stressful. Do you go for traditional styles, modern themes, do you opt for fun and funky accessories or classic and elegant? Well, let us take the stress out of your hands as we take a look at some stylish FESTIVE FASHIONS and how you can use then in your own home interiors.
An all time favourite festive fashion is traditional period style decorations that reflect the warmth and elegance of a classic Victorian Christmas. This style is encapsulated by a selection of brass, gold and enamel tree ornaments and natural accessories that will look great in a cosy living room area. Opt for antique style Christmas decorations featuring robins, candles, holly and tin soldiers and don’t forget the all important angel that sits neatly atop the tree. Choose garlands and wreaths made with natural foliage and featuring ivy, holly and mistletoe, bells and ribbons. Choose vintage ornaments that feature town scenes, carol singers, churches and nativity scenes and add in plenty of candles for a soft and welcoming ambiance.
If you live in a minimal or modern home then the traditional style of decorating may look out of place within your interior space. Instead you could opt for a sleek and contemporary Christmas look that is in keeping with the rest of your decor but still provides a cosy and festive feel within your home. Instead of a traditional tree you could opt for a black, white or coloured tree that can be decorated with brightly coloured baubles, lights and a star or pom pom at the top of the tree as a finishing touch. Decorate the rest of the room with some modern light boxes with festive messages or box light letters spelling out ‘xmas’, ‘ho ho ho’ or ‘noel’. You can also include some fun and funky fairy lights in snow ball, snowman or snowflake designs for added detail.
Christmas for me is all about a bit of glitz and glamour and an opulent Christmas interior is sure to add the sparkle that we associate with the festive season. Decorate your Christmas tree with a variety of metallic and glittery ornaments in gold, silver or rose gold and add plain white twinkling fairy lights for a sparkling diamond effect finish. Add a glitter garland to your fireplace area and add some heart shaped lights, calligraphy style signs and some gorgeous stockings in glitter or felt finishes with personalised initials and faux fur trims that will look great in any living room area. Decorate your dining table with some stylish gold or silver crockery and wine glasses and include a centrepiece made from a clear glass bowl filled with glitter baubles and fairy lights for a bright and elegant finish.
