Spring has sprung...despite the somewhat snowy start and now is the time to update your home decor and add some pep and colour to your interior spaces. This season is all about FOLIAGE and FLORALS that add colour, pattern and visual detail across all aspects of your home interior. This style of decor will look wonderful in both contemporary and classic home interiors and can be used to create a brand new interior design or simply update your current home decor.
English Country Garden
If you love the elegance and beauty of a classic English country garden then why not recreate this look inside your home with a selection of elegant soft furnishings, accessories and decor. Opt for soft pastels and botanical hues for your colour palette and include wallpaper that features classic roses, hydrangea or leaves that will create a focal point on a main feature wall. Partner with co-ordinating floral cushions, curtains, bedding and rugs that will tie together the look and create a bold yet delicate visual detail within the room. To accentuate this look further then include some vases of fresh flowers around the room and add some floral crockery such as plates, cups and saucers to a traditional white, cream or pastel painted dresser.
Bold and Modern
For a more contemporary take on this interior trend then opt for bright primary or neon colour palettes or monochrome colour schemes and co-ordinate with eye catching modern prints and patterns for an update on a traditional floral design. If you wish to create sleek and sophisticated finish then opt for monochrome wallpaper featuring bold abstract flowers or vines and foliage and include a hint of silver metallic for added visual impact. This can be paired with co-ordinating monochrome or primary coloured cushions and curtains featuring trees, flowers and leaves or even a photographic floral or woodland scene that will look great on a sofa or sleeping area. Team with vases filled with simple natural twigs and fairy lights that will bring a hint of nature into your interior space.
Retro
Foliage and flowers play a huge part in the decor of retro interior design and are a great way of adding colour and pattern to a vintage style interior. Opt for bold retro floral wallpaper in bright red, orange and mustard with hints of chocolate and cream for a classic 1960s finish. Team with co-ordinating rugs, curtains and cushions and upholster a retro sofa or armchair in a bold floral fabric that will look create as a centrepiece in your chosen room. Accessorise your chosen room with some eye-catching floral lamp shades and ceiling pendants featuring bold and bright coloured repeating floral patterns and fringing and include some vases and ornaments from designers such as Orla Kiely that bring a hint of retro elegance and colour into your chosen interior space.
