This January it’s time to take a walk on the wild side with the latest interior woodland animal trend. Cute forest creatures and forest settings are perfect for adding some fun and detail into a neutral interior and Fox print items seem to be a popular in both high street and high end interior stores.
The rich orange and brown tones of fox fur and their elegant and stylish form make them a great visual print that can be used on a wide range of items and accessories throughout the home. We have selected some of our favourite ways to adopt some foxy fashion into your home this season and create a quirky and cosy interior setting.
Cushions
Cushions have become a staple item in most homes as they provide textural and visual detail to plain seating areas or bed designs. For a classic and cosy feel, opt for classic fox images with a natural backdrop that looks particularly stylish in country cottage homes or vintage living room areas. For a slightly Nordic feel then select natural linen cushions with a repeating fox print pattern and design. If you prefer a more contemporary look then plain white cushions look amazingly striking adorned with abstract or cartoon style fox images in bold and eye catching colours such as red, blue and green.
Bedding
Animal print bedding has always been a popular choice in modern bedroom settings however if you fancy a change from the traditional leopard print or zebra stripe design then why not select some fox print covers that will add a fun and unique feel to your sleeping space. Intricate floral bedding in feminine colour tones with woodland animals and foxes will look beautiful in a classic or delicately coloured bedroom areas while a simple white and orange, fox pattern duvet cover or throw will add a quirky and contemporary feel that looks particularly effective in a nursery or children’s bedroom.
Wallpaper
There as such amazing wallpaper designs on the market at the moment there really is no pattern or style that hasn’t been produced. Fox print is set to be a hot favourite this season with the rise of classic English stately interiors and equestrian themed accessories. Simple fox prints in chocolate brown and gold provide a sleek and sophisticated finish while lighter cream and bold orange will create a more retro and vintage feel in your bedroom, living room or hallway area. I particularly love this refined, claret coloured fox and hens wallpaper (left) that creates that classic ‘British’ atmosphere that we associate with grand country homes.
Wall Art
A simple picture, canvas or framed photo is a great way of introducing a colour or print into your home in a simple and cost effective way. A selection of wooden picture frames featuring natural Fox images can be hung in a square above a fire place, on a feature wall or alcove area to create a classic country cottage feel that is cosy and sophisticated. Modern abstract fox prints look great in minimal homes and will inject a splash of colour against a neutral painted wall. For a more elegant and feminine design then try your hand at some DIY by creating a fox shape out of your favourite patterned or floral wallpaper and mounting it against a complimentary backdrop with a simple white frame for a personalised and handmade art work.
Accessories
Carefully arranged accessories will add the finishing touch to any interior space and will create areas of visual interest in any room of the home. Fox print tea towels, mugs and cups will look great in a country farmhouse kitchen or a cute and cuddly fox clock will add a family friendly yet functional feature to a nursery or playroom interior. If you love entertaining your visitors then why not add a foxy welcome mat to your outside porch or hallway and serve them some warm and tasty tea on these traditional wooden fox coasters (left) that are both cute and practical.
