Make Your Own Christmas Wreath

It’s that time of year again where we fill our homes with festive ornaments and decorations to bring some Christmas cheer into our interior spaces. While shop bought decorations are reasonably priced and stylish it is sometimes nice to get a little crafty this time of year and design some bespoke, handmade items that will add a personal touch to your home. Why not try your hand at making your very own DIY Christmas wreathes that can come in a wide variety of designs to suit your home? Here are some ideas:

Traditional Wreath

    Wire wreath

Balsam Fir or faux fir branches

Pine, Cedar, holly clippings (optional for embellishment)

    Pruning Shears

    Florists wire

    Wire clippers

    Decorations (acorns, bells, berries etc)

Floral sticks (cut skewers work too)

Take your wire wreath and begin attaching your fir branches using the florists wire in a circular formation.

Use the pruning shears to snip back any pieces that are sticking out or are out of place.

Decorate the wreath as you wish attaching acorns, bells and berries throughout the fir and include a large ribbon bow at the top or bottom of the wreath

Pinecone Wreath

40+ Pinecones(more or less depending on the size of your wreath)

A circle of foam or chip board (choose whatever size you wish your wreath to be)

    1/2 roll of burlap

1 roll of burlap ribbon (or ribbon of your choice)

    Craft Knife

    Hot glue gun

    Ribbon

Cut a circle (any size you wish) from your foam or chip board and then wrap the entire shape with your burlap to ensure that all of the board is covered.

Cut some ribbon around 31 inches in length and attach to the top of a wreath as a hanger.

Use the glue gun to cover the wreath in pinecones, trying to fill all available gaps gluing them to the wreath and each other

Make a bow from the remaining ribbon and glue to the top or bottom of your wreath

Bauble Wreath

    Wreath frame

    Hot glue gun

    Tinsel garland

    Ornaments in varying sizes

Wrap your wreath frame in tinsel making sure that there are no gaps where the frame is visible.

Start to stick your baubles to the wreath using your glue gun, start with large baubles first followed by smaller ones to fill the gaps.

Snowman Wreath

This wreathe is super easy to make and makes a cute and adorable addition to any festive home. This fun Snowman style design is perfect for getting the kids involved in the decorating process.

Cardboard in Medium Blue and Dark Blue

    Cardboard in orange

    Scissors

    2-5″ grapevine wreath

    1-8″ grapevine wreath

    Hot glue gun

    Twine

    Carboard Box

    craft knife

Glue the top of the large wreath to the bottom of the small wreath to form a figure ‘8’ and once dry wrap the twine around the glued area.

Cut a strip off the cardboard box using a scissors or craft knife to resemble a scarf, another shape to resemble a hat and lastly a triangle for the snowman’s nose. Decorate the hat and scarf with the glue and medium and dark blue card and the nose with the orange card.

Use the hot glue gun to attach the scarf between the two wreathes and the hat at a slight angle on top of the smaller wreath. Don’t forget to attach his nose at the opposite side of the wreath to the hat.
