Bohemian style home interiors are set to be one of the biggest trends of 2017 and are an ever popular choice due to their laid back and relaxed design. As we head into the spring/summer season MANDALA prints are becoming the favoured patterns of both high end and high street interior designers as they make the perfect addition to any boho home interior.
The intricate mandala design is the perfect way to add texture and colour to your home interior and can be used in a wide variety of ways to provide a striking or subtle finish. Mandala print cushions will create a fabulous feature on a sofa or bed spread and can be displayed alongside tribal, Aztec or Moroccan prints for added detail. Opt for bold and brightly coloured mandala designs and pair with satin cushions with beading and tassels for a hint of Middle Eastern glamour. Alternatively select natural beige and monochrome coloured mandala cushions and team with linen and macramé throws for a more soft and relaxed design.
Mandala prints make a great print for wallpaper and wall art as their elegant design can be incorporated into both modern and traditional homes. For a classic bohemian feel then opt for bold wallpaper featuring one large circular mandala that will look fabulous on a central feature wall or chimneybreast. You can also create this look by hanging a mandala print throw or rug along your chosen wall to create a hippy style ambiance in your chosen space. For a more refined and elegant appearance then select a wallpaper that features a smaller, repetitive mandala pattern that can be displayed in simple monochrome or bold and pastel hues for a pop of colour within the room.
If you love to try your hand at a spot of DIY or up-cycling then why not purchase a set of mandala stencils that can be used to decorate a wide range of items and surfaces within the home. If you wish to create a central focal point in the room without investing in a rug then stencil a large circular mandala on your wooden floor in crisp white, blue, pink or purple to create a statement in your interior space. You can also use this method to decorate the treads of your stairs, create a runner in your hallway or to stencil your plastered or panelled walls. If you want to breathe a new lease of life into an old coffee table, dining table, bedside or stool then use you stencil to paint a mandala pattern on your natural wood or painted furniture and seal with varnish for added durability.
If you don’t wish to undertake a complete overhaul of your home interior then a selection of mandala style accessories will create a chic bohemian feel without the large price tag. Update a plain painted feature wall with a mandala style, framed mirror in shimmering gold or silver or matt black that can be partnered with co-ordinating mandala print lanterns, vases and candleholders for an elegant and stylish finish. If you like to throw dinner parties then why not update your dining area with a selection of Moroccan inspired mandala print plates and crockery in bright and bold colour schemes that will create an uplifting feel in your home interior.
