With the gorgeous Atlantic sea right on their doorstep it is easy to see why the residents of Miami take much of their interior inspiration from the cool beach tones and laid back lifestyle. From simplistic coastal inspired rooms to more bright and vibrant Art Deco inspired looks, Miami homes have a cheery and uplifting disposition with just the right balance of glamour and luxury. Hosting some of the finest and most renowned interior designers in the world it is understandable why Miami homes are the envy of many.
Miami interiors certainly don’t shy away from the use of colour. From soft and elegant pastels to bold and bright tropical colour tones, colour plays a huge part in emphasising the shape and layout of the room. Bold and retro wallpapers make a fabulous feature in a Miami home interior and can sport an array of geometric shapes or quirky fruit and beach prints for a cool and relaxed feel. For even more of a visual impact, bold colours such as fuchsia, lime green and turquoise can be focused on the upholstery and soft furnishings for a pop of eye-catching colour that looks great against a crisp white backdrop.
Palm print is a much have feature in a Miami inspired home as they reflect the palm tree lined boulevards of the beach front and bring a sense of the outdoors indoors for added colour and texture. Opt for palm print wallpaper, cushions or rugs or opt for quirky palm inspired home accessories such as ornaments, plates and crockery or a palm tree lamp (right) that will look amazing nestled beside a vintage sofa or bed for a balance of style and function.
Don’t be afraid to clash colours and patterns in a layered formation that gives the illusion of depth in smaller rooms of the home. Vintage prints such as floral, geometric patterns and simple stripes can be layered against a simple pastel wall or bold patterned wallpaper in clashing or complimentary tones for visual variation. Select a sofa that clashes with your feature wall or a bed set that features contemporary beach prints against a vintage inspired wallpaper or rug for a bold, statement design. If you’re not feeling quite that brave then opt for matching patterns in varying sizes or clashing patterns that carry the same colour palette for a more subtle look and finish.
For a more crisp and modern feel then embrace a bright white, colour palette with accents of cool blues and turquoise that will create pops of colour that compliment the beach front ambiance. Select a combination of natural wood and gold and copper gilded items that will give a hint of glamour against the minimal and neutral backdrop. Introduce detail to a plain wall with a bold abstract artwork in bright or pastel colour tones and keep furniture in sleek modern or retro styles to maintain a neat and uncluttered finish.
The Art Deco architecture of the Miami Beach front properties is world renowned with its striking shapes and designs and mouth watering tropical and pastel colours. This look can also be celebrated inside the home with soft and dusky colour tones and an array of classic Art Deco furniture such as statement sideboards, coffee tables and wardrobes that create a focal point within the room. Jazz style chairs make a great feature in a living room or bedroom interior and their combination of pastel coloured leather and glossy chrome framework make then a striking addition to any Miami style home.
