NATURAL PATTERNS are taking pride of place in interiors this season, replacing bolder geometric and abstract prints and shapes around the room. Natural prints work really well across wallpapers, bedding, rugs, upholstery and cushions as well as selected furniture items to create a soft botanical ambiance within your chosen space. From elegant leaves and floral patterns to more contemporary trees and branches, these patterns are perfect for creating visual detail and colour within your home.
Wallpaper is a great place to start when adding pattern to your home, creating a focal point on a main feature wall, alcove or chimney breast. For a feminine and delicate ambiance, select some floral wallpaper that features classic roses, hydrangea or chrysanthemum in soft pastel hues for a muted finish or monochrome and grey for a more sophisticated modern feel. If you prefer a more contemporary look then select some elegant tree patterned wallpaper in soft greys for a Scandinavian feel or bold neon shades for a more contemporary retro interior design. For a more fun and quirky twist then you could also include some wildlife inspired wallpaper featuring foxes, rabbits and birds.
Floral patterned curtains look wonderful paired with flower print upholstery on a classic sofa, armchair or chaise for a French country style look that will create a serene and natural finish within your home. Leaf print fabrics will look fabulous on a bedding set in soft pastel hues for a feminine design or white, black and grey for a more masculine and sleek interior finish. Opt for a scattering of cushions featuring leaves, flowers and vines or select some contemporary photographic landscape designs or animal print cushions featuring hedgerow inspired animals such as hares, mice and squirrels. Repeating patterns give a sleek and stylish finish across your upholstery and soft furnishings while a more sporadic pattern will create visual movement within your interior space. Team these with a selection of Mediterranean furniture crafted from natural oak and featuring carved or filigree leaf shapes or mosaic floral patterns on the table tops, door and drawer fronts.
Accessories can also benefit from natural prints and patterns creating a focal point within your chosen room. For a light and illuminating feature in your room, why not opt for a large circular, square or rectangular mirror featuring a wooden or metal leaf frame with intertwining vines and foliage. This could be teamed with a co-ordinating leaf patterned vase and ornament collection for a classically stylish finish. If you prefer a more modern design then opt for some simple metal or wooden vases and adorn with a selection of natural or painted twigs and some intertwined fairy lights that will make a great alternative to a floor or table lamp. Display in the corner of the room or on a side table or sideboard for a chic and elegant natural inspired interior space.
