One of 2018s biggest trend is set to be NOMADIC interior design that creates a relaxed and calming ambiance that works wonderfully in any room of the home. This design brings together elements of travel, tribal and bohemian styles to create a visual elegance that is simple yet eye-catching. This trend is perfect for both modern and vintage home interiors.
Opt for simple and neutral colour palettes that create a calm yet cosy feel in your chosen room. Light beige and cream colour tones can be complimented with soft taupe, mocha, biscuit and caramel hues that will create a slightly rustic feel in your home. For a more cool and relaxed feel then opt for off white and dove grey colour palettes that will create a lighter more Scandinavian inspired look within the room
If you wish to select some wallpaper for you chosen interior space, opt for simple tribal patterns in co-ordinating colour schemes or tonal ombre style wallpapers for a sunset inspired design. Stone or wood effect wallpapers also look great in this interior trend and can be used to draw attention to a large feature wall or small chimney breast area. For a more bohemian style finish then place a large tapestry or rug on your main wall featuring a mandala, bold tribal pattern or dashes of colour.
Natural fabrics are key in creating the relaxed feel of a nomadic interior design and will look great in simple natural colours or bold tribal patterns for a striking visual finish. Include a range of cushions on a bed or seating area featuring co-ordinating patterns, woven designs and embroidered patterns with fringing and beading for added detail. Where possible try and make the most of artisan and handmade items for a more authentic and well travelled interior design.
Oak or reclaimed furniture looks great in a nomadic home interior and will create a classic and cosy feel within your chosen room. Opt for light smoked oak designs or rustic and worn oak pieces that bring character into any room of the home. Choose unique and unusual styles of furniture that look like they may have been collected from your travels such as side tables, dressers and wardrobe and mix and match your designs to create a sense of travel and worldliness.
When selecting accessories for your room mix and match a variety of style to create visual variation within your chosen space. Eastern style lanterns will look great as ceiling lights and table lamps and team with African inspired wall art such as masks, totems and photographic prints. On a mantelpiece, sideboard or bedside, display a selection of nik naks and ornaments that could have been collected from a variety of locations and team with natural wood candle holders and photo frames that can be used to display some black and white or sepia photographs.
