The RICH PIGMENT interior trend is set to be one of the hottest looks for this autumn/winter season. This look emphasises deep and rich colour tones and areas of saturated pigmentation within your interior space. These pigmented looks can be achieved on a main feature wall, on a selection of soft furnishings or a furniture item. It is versatile and eye catching and can be used in both modern and traditional interior designs.
If choosing to create a pigmented look on a main feature wall then opt for a colour palette that is sumptuous and rich and creates an area of depth within your interior space. Period style colours are perfect for this look such as rich emerald green, navy blue and red that will create a saturated look within your interior space. Try to focus your colour onto one main wall in your home; this could be a large feature wall, chimney breast or some alcove spaces that will draw the eye to your chosen colour scheme. If you're not a fan of painted feature walls then you can also achieve this look with a highly pigmented wallpaper that can be used in the same way as a painted feature wall. Again opt for rich and deep colour tones with a variety of modern or traditional patterns and hints of metallic gold or silver.
If you prefer to keep your interior walls neutral or less bold then you can use a pigmented look on soft furnishings to create the same area of focused colour within your interior space. A great way of achieving this is with a bold and deep upholstered sofa or armchair that will create a focal point within your living room interior. Once again opt for rich and opulent colours such as emerald green, burgundy. Opt for traditional furniture designs such as French carved items, Victorian style armchairs or even vintage sofas and seating options that will optimise your choice of colors.
Velvet is a perfect fabric choice for optimising a pigmented colour scheme. Velvet not only works great on upholstery such a sofas, armchairs and dining chairs that can also be used on curtains, cushions and throws to create an opulent and rich finish within your interior space. A selection of deep coloured velvet cushions will look wonderful on a plain sofa and can be accentuated with beading, embroidery or tassels for a classic and glamorous finish. A plain set of deep coloured curtains will also bring a focal point to a plain window space and can be embellished with beaded or tasselled tie backs for a pop of opulence and luxury. If you wish to update a plain white bed set then why not place a velvet or quilted throw at the base of the bed in deep pigmented colour schemes that will create a burst of opulent colour within your bedroom interior.
