Spring has officially sprung this week and to celebrate we’re looking at the most time and cost effective ways in which to bring the season into your home: spring flowers. With vast ranges to choose from, you’re sure to find the perfect bunch to brighten your home.
It’s not all about the flowers though. The perfect vase can either make a bunch look freshly plucked from the meadow or a bang on trend fashion statement to correspond with an ultra-modern home. Let’s take a look at some of our favourites…
Daffodils
Famous for being the first bloom of spring, daffodils are a fantastic rustic-looking flower that brings a wonderful splash of yellow into the home. Suitable for any interior style, they are also incredibly cost effective!
Daffodils look great in a mason jar, the clear glass jars that are making quite a comeback in recent months. If you have green fingers, daffodils will also grow in a small box and the bulbs will last year after year for annual delights!
Tulips
Best plucked in mid-spring, the tulip is a delicate flower with a real signature look. Blossoming in a vast array of stunning colours as varied as a rainbow, they best suit modern, minimalist homes thanks to their neat blossom and splash of intense colour.
Either a clear crystal or plain white porcelain vase in a classic shape will best show these beautiful flowers to their full effect and make their vibrant colours really stand out. Place them in front of a plain white wall to really make a statement.
Lily of the Valley
While the lily of the valley typically blooms in later spring, they have been known to appear earlier following a mild winter. Delicate and softly scented, this particular flower looks like it has bloomed straight out of a fairy tale.
Ideal for homes that are already somewhat busy with colour, they are a calm flower that looks freshly picked however you display them. Due to their delicate structure, they are best put together with other delicate flowers in a small, colourless vase so their true beauty can shine through.
Muscari
Commonly coupled with tulips and daffodils, the muscari is somewhat bolder than the other flowers on this list and as such can handle being displayed with slightly larger and colourful flowers for a truly striking effect.
A homely vase, perhaps painted and varnish with a spring floral pattern, would match this flower beautifully. Big, bold and beautiful, the muscari is ideal for those looking to make a statement and show their fun and vibrant side within the house.
Dogwood blossom
For many, the arrival of spring brings with it the enjoyment of sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine. As such, the home can be extended into the garden in both natural style and furniture. One of the spring flowers that is particularly beautiful set outside is dogwood blossom.
A tree blossom, this plant will delight and inspire you annually, making this particular tree a true investment. To ensure the plant is complete with your garden design, consider wrapping fairy lights around the trunk for a garden party vibe that will last all through spring and summer.
