Stairwells and staircases are necessary part of any home interior (unless you live in a bungalow). Whilst they are functional and practical they can be a feature of the home that is often neglected and overlooked. These central features can be adorned with designs, colours and shapes that make them more of a feature within your room and create a centrepiece in the home that is visually stylish and elegant.
If you have a large and spacious hallway area then why not opt for a grand sweeping or curved staircase that will create a bold statement as soon as you enter your home interior. If your home is rustic or countrified then opt for a large and chunky oak or mahogany staircase featuring simple chunky dowels and spindles for a bold and masculine feel or carved, whittled style spindles that will create a cottage or farmhouse style warmth within the room. Open tread staircases create added visual detail along the curves of these staircases and open up the feel of the space while a closed tread staircase can be further accentuated with a plain or patterned carpet for added visual style.
If you love Victorian style home interiors then why not create a period style staircase in your home with a selection of ornate spindles, posts and embellishments that will create a focal point in a living room or hallway area. Wrought iron staircases are a staple feature of this time period as this versatile ad strong material is perfect for creating a variety of shapes, patterns and twists along your staircase area. Flowers, Fleur-De-Lys, scrolls and vines are key features in this style of staircase and can be left in a natural metal finish but can also be decorated with coloured enamel to accentuate the shapes and designs in order to add some eye-catching detail within the room.
If modern home decor is more your style then why not add some sleek and stylish visual decor to your hallway or living room with a glass staircase that will look wonderful in a minimal home interior. This ‘invisible’ staircase features treads, walls and spindles made from clear tempered glass that will create a light and open ambiance within your room. A similar minimal style can be achieved with a ‘floating’ staircase that is crafted by adding treads that slide directly into the wall with no handle, spindles or posts. This style can make a great alternative to a spiral staircase or as access to an attic room as it does not take up as much space as a traditional staircase. For a unique combination of modern and traditional design then you can opt for a light or smoked oak staircase that features chrome or rose gold style spindles and fixtures that will create a luxurious and glamorous finish in any home interior.
