Whether you have a drama queen, a princess or a rock chick, finding the right decor for a teenage girl’s bedroom can be an extremely daunting task. Striking a balance between the likes of a young woman and the essentials of adulthood is a must when creating a bedroom area for your teenage girls. A mix and match of functional and practical storage and furniture combined with more mature yet feminine colour schemes and accessories will create the perfect bedroom space for your young ladies.
Colour schemes are an important feature of any bedroom area and it is important to keep a teenage bedroom fresh and funky whilst including more muted and mature tones for a sophisticated twist. Juicy colour palettes such as lemon, lime, strawberry and crisp white give a colourful yet elegant look that is perfect for creating a bright summery ambiance. Alternatively opt for pastel inspired ice cream tones like bubblegum pink, peach, pale blue and peppermint that create an illuminating and light finish that is perfect for more compact bedroom interiors. For a more contemporary and sleek design then a classic monochrome palette will create a perfect mix of masculine and feminine style that can be accented with a bold colour, metallic elements or glittery wallpaper for added detail.
In an age of social media teenage girls cannot resist taking a quick selfie or snapping various poses of their friends on days out or at school. Why not use these photos to create a focal point in your teenage girl’s bedroom with a selection of personalised wall art created from their photographic memories. Take a large multi window photo frame and print off their favourite pictures in colour or black and white depending on their style. Alternatively create a canvas or poster using their filtered Instagram photos (a service which is now available on line and in many supermarkets and department stores). You could also frame pictures of their favourite music artists, film stars or movie characters and arrange them in a gallery formation on a plain painted wall.
We all know how girls of any age love to sit and chat with friends about the latest gossip or the newest episode of their favourite TV show. Many hours of their teenage years are sure to be spent in their rooms with their friends whether it’s after school or during a sleepover. While most teenagers will be happy to all pile on the bed for a natter, providing them with plenty of seating space is a must! For a multifunctional sitting area select a sofa bed in crisp white or soft pastel colours that can be used for reading, chatting and sleeping. If your teenager prefers a more sophisticated look then add a selection of French style occasional chairs in funky coloured upholstery or elegant cream and gold where they can sit and paint their nails or check for updates on their tablets and mobiles.
Your teenage years mark the start of an unending interest in fashion. Whether your teenage girls love following the latest trends and high street names or have their own unique and individual styles they are sure to accumulate an array of clothes, shoes and accessories throughout this period of their life. Making sure they have enough wardrobe space for all of their outfits is essential (unless you wish to see them scattered across their bedroom floor). If there is limited space in your teenager’s bedroom then opt for built in wardrobes with sliding doors to maximise the space in their room without negotiating on practical storage. For larger rooms, opt for a pair of matching wardrobes and chests of drawers or a large armoire that can take centre stage in their bedroom for a stylish and eye-catching look.
No teenage girl’s bedroom would be complete without a spacious dressing table area where they can experiment with the latest make-up trends or get ready for a social occasion. For a chic and glamorous look then select a carved French style dressing table with fluted legs and a matching swivel mirror for those all important pamper sessions. If they prefer a more modern look then select a black or white high gloss table with plenty of drawer space for their make-up and accessories. Include a selection of pots and storage boxes for their brushes and accessories and add a matching dressing table stool or chair for the ultimate in functional comfort.
