Happy New Year! Its 2017 and that time of year again where designers and high street stores release their hottest trends for the year. One of the most talked about trends that began to be introduced towards the end of last year is UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARDS that create a stylish focal point in any bedroom interior. From classic styles to funky modern designs, why not jump on board this simple yet striking trend this January.
Leather
For a sleek and sophisticated look then select a leather upholstered headboard that will create a luxurious bedroom interior. Leather is a great choice not only because of its visual style but because of its easy to maintain finish that can be dusted and cleaned with ease. Chesterfield style button upholstery will look wonderful with rich black or tan leather for a masculine and refined ambiance while softer cream, grey and white leather will give a bright and cosy look that works wonderfully with oak or painted bed frames.
Velvet
If you prefer a splash of glamour and opulence in your bedroom interior then opt for a velvet upholstered headboard that will create visual texture and colour in your room. For a classic French style look then partner a soft cream velvet headboard with a cream painted, carved bed frame that will create a chateau style feel in your bedroom interior. For a more bold and striking finish then partner a black framed bed with a bold coloured crushed velvet headboard with button or diamante detailing. Opt for rich purple, red, navy or pink for a pop of elegant colour.
Floral
Floral fabrics make a great addition to both modern and traditional homes and create a display of elegant pattern on a large upholstered headboard. For a classic, English garden design then select simple rose, hydrangea or poppy print fabrics in soft pink, red, white and green for a feminine look that is fresh yet refined. If you prefer a more oriental feel then select simple blue and white coloured floral fabrics that will look fabulous with a crisp white painted bed frame. For a modern and flamboyant finish then select some vibrant tropical print fabrics with palms, orchids and hibiscus for a bright and funky design.
Striped
Striped fabrics are a classic choice for soft furnishings and make a great choice for a large upholstered headboard due to their simplicity and versatility. For a chic coastal inspired look then select a white and navy striped headboard that will create a bold statement in any bedroom interior. A cosy country cottage design can be achieved with a rich cream and mocha or chocolate striped headboard made from classic cotton or linen fabrics. For a bright and vibrant look that will create a burst of colour in a minimal bedroom interior, opt for a rainbow striped headboard with varying widths of stripe.
Linen
If you prefer a more simple and elegant look on your headboard area then why not opt for some plain yet textural linen fabrics that are classically chic. Soft oatmeal and cream linen fabrics can be teamed with an ornately carved headboard frame in solid oak, cream or gold that will create a cosy yet palatial feel in your bedroom interior. For a pop of colour opt for dusky or pastel toned linen such as duck egg blue, mauve and lemon that will create a feminine, shabby chic ambiance within your room. For a more masculine take on this design then select deep forest green, navy or charcoal linen headboards with chesterfield style detailing that will provide depth and colour to your interior space.
