With the Summer season comes an array of warm and comforting colour schemes that create an inviting and stylish space within our home. This atmosphere is perfect for any month of the year but works particularly well doing the warmer months of our British summer. A WARM EARTH interior design brings together toasty Mediterranean hues with natural fabrics and accessories to create a calm and peaceful space which is cosy and enveloping.
For a classic Mediterranean feel; partner colours such as warm beige, sand and taupe with rich terracotta orange, red and mustard to create a sunset style colour scheme that is perfect for both modern and contemporary homes. If you prefer a slightly more botanical colour scheme then you can include colours such as peach, pink, purple and green that will work perfectly well beside natural creams, orange and beige. To draw on the Mediterranean theme of this colour palette you could include some Spanish style tiles if you are decorating your kitchen or bathroom or geometric patterned wallpaper that will give the same style of print and colour. For a more rustic interior look you could opt for some textured wallpaper that will give the effect of a stucco wall which is a traditional feature in Spanish, Greek and Italian interior design.
Where possible opt for natural fabrics and upholstery that will complement the laid-back and relaxed feel of this look. A set of beige linen curtains can be accentuated with some burnt orange embroidery or detailing and can be tied back with some brass or copper effect tie backs for a rustic country style feel. Update a plain sofa, chair or bed with a selection of tile effect cushions with traditional Mediterranean patterns and colour schemes that will draw attention to the area and create a focal point within your chosen room. Classic Mediterranean rugs featuring tile effect patterns, tassels, embroidery and beading will also look great within this interior trend and can be used to create a focal point within your living room bedroom dining room or hallway.
Traditional furniture works the best within this interior look as it compliments the natural finishes and warm colour tones of this interior design. Oak, walnut and acacia furniture will create a welcoming and cosy ambiance within your chosen room and will look wonderful against the warm Mediterranean backdrop. Opt for chunky and grained furniture items for a rustic feel or more linear and slimline designs for a hint of contemporary luxury. For a truly authentic Mediterranean design you could select some woven or rattan furniture which works particularly well in living rooms, conservatories and dining rooms with a garden or outdoor view. Opt for statement items such as a large coffee table or storage chest or a planter that features a palm or umbrella plant that will create a focal point within the room. Alternatively you could also select some carved filigree furniture or tables with mosaic tiled tops which are a key feature of Mediterranean interior design.
